Packaging Manager – Procurement -  c£40k

Superb opportunity for a Senior Packaging Manager to join a major retail group within their Packaging purchasing team although this role in for an initial 12 months to cover Maternity, there is a good possibility it will go permanent.

This interesting position will offer you the chance to flourish in a busy and demanding environment, whilst delivering the packaging requirements of the brands in a cost effective manner whilst ensuring quality standards are maintained. There is an opportunity to influence the future strategy of the department.

Tasks & Responsibilities

*Motivating & managing the team to achieve results, gives recognition and praise.
* Manage packaging design budget, delivering cost effective value added solutions.
* Communicate clear vision of the future - translates into understandable goals & targets.
* Facilitate the Brands design requirements to external/internal designers, manage the design process through concept designs, development & implementation stages of the project, ensuring design standards are met, timescales adhered to, sign off processes are followed & relevant information is communicated to internal & external parties.
* Attend Brand meetings, ensuring Brand integrity is maintained at each stage of the process.
* Develop, manage & appraise team, building a strong team with focus on succession planning.
* Actively manage conflict & offer support and help to the team as required.
* Continually review the working Practices on the department & propose more effective or efficient methods of working where necessary.
* Anticipate issues & address them appropriately, planning ahead to maximise the use of time & resource.
* Help others in the team understand individual, team and group objectives.
* Respond positively to changing deadlines, dealing with urgent issues without needing senior management guidance.

Person Specification
* Relevant experience within the industry or related industries.
* Advanced understanding & knowledge of latest digital, litho, screen, thermal & woven production processes, along with associated repro.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively.
* Excellent organisational, project management and communication skills.
* Creative thinker with strong negotiation skills.
* Excellent people management skills.
* Able to work in a demanding environment to pressurised deadlines.
* Professional & commercial approach when dealing internally & externally.
* Able to inspire, motivate & manage a team to deliver results.
* Operates effectively in a fast paced environment, able to adapt to change and re-define goals where necessary.
