This specialist Label printing business has an opening for an Ink Technician to join the team on their double day shift (6am - 2pm & 2pm - 10pm).

You will be working within the Production team to provide colour matched Flexo and Screen ink to their press hall, maintaining the highest standards and supporting the wider team.

Primary duties and responsibilities

• Formulation of all inks
• Colour proofing
• Prepare and maintain accurate records
• Logging of colours
• Updating ink tech forms–Excel/IDS/CERM
• Calibrate all equipment
• Trouble shoot colour problems on press
• Record and monitor ink waste
• Mix ink in line with daily production schedule
• Colour matching by eye but predominantly with spectrophotometers
• Carry out weekly material stock checks
• Replenish material stocks in ink room
• Arrange uplift of any empty containers or waste ink, ensuring containers are safely palletised and lids are secure
• Provide on press technical support for new/complex designs and customer approvals
• Ensure the ink store is maintained and paperwork is available for inspection
• Comply with all H&S rules and policies
• Provide training to relevant employees on the ink production process

Skills and experience required

• Good eye for colour
• Extensive manufacturing operations experience including experience of working in controlled areas e.g. GMP

• Experience of narrow web industry
• Able to respond quickly and professionally to changes in workload priority
• Able to work on own initiative
• An effective team player able to work with different departments within the business
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written
• Basic IT skills
• Good numeracy and literacy skills
• Experience of Xrite IFS v6.41 or similar
• Extensive experience in the use of Xrite exact spectro
• Understanding Lab Colour Space
• Excellent attention to detail
• An understanding and experience of working to ISO9001
