Due to continued growth, this leading Label printing business requires an HP certified Digicon Operator to work on their double day shift (6pm - 2pm & 2pm - 10pm)
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of printing with CMYK and experience of embellishments (hot foil, cold foil, laminates etc)
Job Purpose
The Digicon Operator is responsible for the Operation of an ABG Digicon machine designed for the purposes of unwinding, printing, laminating, foil blocking and die cutting, inspecting and rewinding rolls of carrier based materials from a master roll of material produced on the digital press.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures productivity while minimizing waste and maximizing output by monitoring the converting process
- Recognizing output problems, and implementing the appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintains machine stability and dependability by performing routinemaintenance, onscheduleand according to prescribed procedures
- Monitors and inspects digitally printed products for conformance to specifications using defined methods and equipment before releasing.
- Maximizes efficiencies of the machine through accurate machine setup of dies, inks, varnishes, laminates, etc. according to procedures
- Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be produced, production times, and job specifications.
- Monitors feeding and printing processes of Digicon in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions; make any necessary adjustments.
- Operates equipment at required speed to ensure proper alignment, andregistration.
- Primes unconverted materials with the required coatings according to procedure for conversion on the digital press.
- Changes out and replaces various consumables and tooling.
- Calibrating the equipment by making measurements and adjustments to control output.
- Removes printed materials from machine and transports them to storage or finishing areas.
- Ensures the workconducted within the production area is performed in! A safe and efficient manner. Any unsafe work conditions are addressed immediately.
- Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company's internal audit program.
- Covering Digital Press when required
- Labelling and packing of jobs finished inline.
Skills & Experience Required for this Position
- Ideally suited to a highly skilled, fast working & analytical Flexo Printer with experience in the following:
- Individual must be able to monitor processes, materials and equipment, as well as judge quality through inspection.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required
- Good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills
- 4+ years relevant experience in printing preferred
- Preferred Candidate should possess basic mathematical skills
- Requires an analytical approach to problem solving, being exact or highly accurate, meeting strict deadlines, and working with others in a group or team.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent Attention to detail.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; talk; sit; listen; lift up to 50 pounds and have vision capabilities that enable reading and viewing a computer screen.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language (verbal and written)
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Ability to learn and apply new procedures and methods
- Ability and willingness to perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to follow safety procedures
